Interesting Facts: This plant occurs in the shady portions of the meadow area of the preserve. Althought this plant is found in a dry environment within California Woods, it is considered by the USDA to be a National Wetland Indicator species. This means that this plant is used to assess the health of a wetland environment, and as its survival goes, so does the health of the wetland.
