Interesting Facts: This is one of many fall asters that bloom within the preserve. This species is unique from the other Asters because of it unusually hairy stem. As with other fall flowers, this species is an important nectar source for migrating butterflies and bees that are getting ready to overwinter. Most specimens within the preserve are found in the open field and meadow habitats.
