Interesting Facts: This species occurs in wet areas of the preserve, mainly near the Deer Lick Run Creek. Unlike its cousin Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis) which is pollinated primarily by Hummingbirds, this plant is primarily pollinated by bees which land on the lower "lip" and crawl into the center of the tubular flower.
