Interesting Facts: The alternate common name for this plant, Coffeeweed, is so named because of the plants historical uses in making Chicory Tea or Chicory Coffee. The drink is very bitter, but an aquired taste for people throughout history. Although this species is considered a weed by many, it's beautiful purple flowers are a favorite among many species of insects. This species occurs in the meadow area of the preserve.
