Interesting Facts: This species, like all Solidago species (Goldenrods), often gets falsely accused of causing hay fever. Goldenrod pollen is very heavy and cannot travel very far, thus someone would have to be very close to the plant to contract hayfever. More than likely the reaction is caused by Giant Ragweed which blooms roughly the same time. While most goldenrods are seen in a meadow habitat, this species is one of the 3 species of woodland goldenrods found in the preserve.
*Average bloom time is based on a compilation of wildflower bloom times from 1975 to present.
